Thomas Flinn & Co. 3.0´ One-Man Crosscut Saw, Great American Tooth Pattern

This 3´ One-Man Crosscut Saw has a clear finished Beech handle and comes complete with an auxiliary handle which can be attached to the top of the blade for extra leverage, or to the end of the blade for two-man cutting. Great American tooth pattern efficiently clears wood while cutting. The Tuttle (Champion) tooth pattern has cutter and raker teeth that remove waste as you push and pull through the wood for more efficient cutting.

I was looking forward to receiving this product and using it to cut logs for wood stove. As indicated it was delivered on time. It showed up at my house Thursday on Sunday I gave it its first use. The cut was clean and was working very well until all of the handle screws started loosening and one fell off into the ground and was lost. One of the other handle screws was ready to fall off when I started to notice the wobble. For only using the saw for 2 hours I did not expect that the four handle screws would loosen so easily.losing the screw and having one that needs to be put back together has rendered the Saw useless for now. With some tender loving care and having to find new screws to put the handle back together it will sit on the sidelines until then. The cut was good and was able to do some of the work I needed to. But unable to do any work now until I get to a hardware store. Which was surprising for only used for less than 2 hours Would recommend for cut

I enter this review not as a purchaser but as a saw filer who received the saw in hopes of making it cut better. This saw, if filed and set properly, can do a decent job of cutting small diameter (14" or under) logs. The flat plate blade was stiff enough to take a push, the jointing was true to the arc, and the teeth were filed, not burned with a grinder like some low end European saws on the market. Still, the saw needed a professional tune up to cut well and the tooth set was erratic out of the box. That said, it's a pretty good saw and the tooth design makes for an easy start in small logs. I rated it average on arrival, but better after some TLC.
